Jessica Galbreth was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 29th, 1974.
She began her love of fantasy art at a very young age. In fact,
during her grade school years, you could usually find her after
school at the Electric Rainbow, an enchanting new age shop a few
blocks from her home, poring over books, calendars and any other
fantasy imagery she could find. In high school, Jessica showed
a great interest and natural talent for painting and drawing.
She went on to study the fine arts in college, attending the University
of Toledo, inside the Toledo Museum of Art. There she majored
in painting with a focus on the human figure.
"I draw much of my inspiration for my art from the intricate
beauty of nature, as well as from my fascination with ancient
mythology. Many times, when I am painting my "portraits" of deities
from ancient myth, I feel as if I am just a vessel - whereas I
am being "used", so to speak, to bring forth the images onto paper.
Often, my finished works look nothing like I planned them to...it's
as if my hands are being guided by unseen forces as the painting
takes on a life of its own."
